The editor of Persuading is David C. Baker, also principal of ReCourses , Inc. David's work on management issues for public relations, advertising, interactive, and design firms has been published by Creative Business, Critique, PR Intelligence Report, Creative Planet, Rough, How, In-Review, Graphic Artists Guild, Promax/BDA Newsletter, Post Industry, Ad Agency Insider, PR News, PR Agency Insider, and Web Techniques. He is also a regular contributor to Internet Professional Publishers Association and VFX Pro.

David was the founding sponsor of the How Better Business Conference (for 300+ prinicpals/managers, held in Cancun this October). He has also contributed to The Business Designer's Guide to Creative Marketing by Linda Cooper Bowen (John Wiley and Sons). He is a frequent speaker at national conventions for PRSA (Public Relation's Society of America), Counselor's Academy (affiliated with the same organization), How, AIGA (American Institute for Graphic Arts), SEGD (Society for Environmental Graphic Design), BDA (Broadcast Design Association), and Promax/BDA Pro (business conference for principals only).

David was previously principal of an integrated marketing communications firm in Warsaw, Indiana for five years before discovering the satisfaction of helping peers wrestle through their own business issues (it's easier to spot the mistakes others are making after doing them all yourself in one form or another). This real world experience lends a credence to the advice found in Persuading.

Where are we going?
Changes are afoot in the design world. Where are outside forces trying to take us? How do we get ahead of those changes and thrive as relevant and viable partners? We'll look back on this time in the history of design and see a watershed epoch many designers should have seen more clearly at the time.
